Custom Theme Design Development

GTHAUS is an aftermarket exhaust systems manufacturer for high performance and luxury vehicles. The company, which launched in 2002, supplies exhaust systems primarily from its warehouse in Wood Dale, Illinois.

GTHAUS’ previous website was built on WooCommerce, and operations manager Michael Jang estimates it was at least 15 years old when the team reached out to Ethercycle. The site used extensive custom code, and there was no way for staff to keep updating apps and add-ons to make the site more efficient. Staff also struggled with tasks like managing dealer orders and keeping track of inventory. The old site’s design also didn’t reflect the premium positioning of GTHAUS’ brand, which sells high-performance exhaust systems for luxury and sports cars.

“Maybe someone is just coming in wanting to preview the products that are planned to launch, or maybe someone is looking for a bestseller, or maybe there's someone that's looking to save or wanting to get a product before it sells out with a last chance item. These are things that we really didn't have on the site before. Just being able to have these small pockets of features on the site that speak to a specific customer was really cool.”

Mike did a quick web search to find someone to help modernize the site. He started on Fiverr, and spoke with a couple of firms overseas, but didn’t get “warm fuzzies” from either team, so he looked for someone local and found Ethercycle. He scheduled a quick meeting with Kurt, who “seemed very knowledgeable about the task ahead,” prompting GTHAUS to move forward with Ethercycle.

Ethercycle performed a full WooCommerce to Shopify migration, importing a catalog of 1,250 products to the new site. Tom created a custom Shopify theme, added tools allowing customers to search by year, make and model, and provided comprehensive 301 redirect mapping and SEO preservation so GTHAUS wouldn’t lose its search rankings. Tom also created sweeping gauge graphics that indicate sound level, helping customers better understand each product.
